Ohkura and colleagues reported a case of pulmonary trichomoniasis (Am. J. Trop. Med. Hyg., 34:823 [Correspondence]), one of a number which have recently been recognized.

There would appear to be a need to determine whether these organisms could be a cause of respiratory tract disease. Motile trichomonads can easily be located by microscopic examination of fresh wet mounts of sputum and pleural fluid.
