Antigenic group: Ungrouped.

Original source: Isolated by R. L. Doherty, H. A. Standfast, and I. A. Clark at Brisbane from red cell and buffy coat fractions of calf (Bostaurus) which was febrile after experimental inoculation with bovine ephemeral fever cattle passage material. Cattle-passage material obtained from natural infection at Charters Towers, North Queensland, Let. 20°S, Long. 146°E. (See Remarks.)

Method of isolation in laboratory: Fractions diluted in rabbit-serum saline and 0.015 ml inoculated ic into 1-day-old infant mice.

Validity of isolation: Virus reisolated. In addition, virus clearly distinct from any available in the laboratory.
