During the five years since the seventh edition was issued, many striking developments, additions to our knowledge, and changes of emphasis have taken place in the field of parasitology. To incorporate all of these in a new edition has been a task of considerable proportions. Dr. Chandler, however, has accomplished this in an eminently satisfactory manner in the eighth edition. The entire book has been rewritten and revised.

In the introduction and throughout the entire book of 756 pages the global aspects of the subject are kept constantly in view. This is important in the era upon which we have entered in which inter-continental travel has been reduced to a matter of hours. The increased emphasis given to parasites of animals other than man, and to the role of arthropods as hosts or carriers of pathogenic organisms are features which add to the value of the book.
