Summary

  1. 1. Two new Arizona localities, Casa Grande and Continental, are reported for the recovery of Triatoma naturally infected with Trypanosoma cruzi.
  2. 2. Natural infection of Triatoma protracta and T. protracta woodi are recorded for the first time from Arizona.
  3. 3. The first naturally infected mammals determined by xenodiagnosis are reported from Arizona.
  4. 4. Laboratory mammals experimentally infected with Congress, Continental, Casa Grande and Nogales sources of Trypanosoma cruzi are recorded.
  5. 5. Leishmanial development in experimental mammals is demonstrated for Congress, Continental, Casa Grande and Nogales sources.
  6. 6. Sixty-three, or 7.1 per cent, of 883 Triatoma from Arizona have been found naturally infected with Trypanosoma cruzi Chagas.
