1.Low levels of plasma Vitamin C was an outstanding finding in a nutrition survey of a rural North Carolina community. This was correlated with a low intake of Vitamin C rich foods.
2.Striking gains in Vitamin C plasma levels occurred in a group of 34 children when given an adequate but low cost diet over a period of six weeks.
3.It is concluded that the low levels initially found in these children, and in the survey group, are not normal but represent the result of inadequate intake of Vitamin C over varying periods.
