A description has been given of the natural breeding places of Anopheles quadrimaculatus; and of the physiography of northern Alabama. It has been shown that a definite relationship exists between the occurrence of certain types of physiography and these breeding places. The probable effect of impounding of the Tennessee on production of A. quadrimaculatus is briefly discussed.
