The American Society of Tropical Medicine has established a bronze medal, to be called “The Walter Reed Medal,” which will be awarded to individuals or institutions in recognition of meritorious achievement in tropical medicine. There are to be no limitations of age, race or nationality in the selection of the recipient, except that preference is to be given to persons under forty years of age. The medal is to be awarded for work done within the past ten years and the award may be either for general accomplishment or for a specific accomplishment. Awards are to be made at intervals of two years unless otherwise recommended by the Committee of Award.
The Committee of Award will consist of three ex-presidents of the Society, each to serve for a period of three years and one to be elected each year.
