This monumental volume is a compilation from the pens of some twenty-seven workers in the field of radiology, physics, or in other fields in which radioactivity of some sort is of paramount interest.
The book is divided into twenty-five chapters with a foreword and a preface, and represents a concise history of the inception and progress of the science in its various phases.
Clearly the object is to instruct the layman or at least the non-radiologist, be he doctor or engineer, in what has been accomplished and how the great pioneers, Becquerel, Roentgen, and the Curies, first laid the foundation.
It is, therefore, difficult for any one except the professional radiologist to express an opinion on the subject matter contained in the book except from the standpoint of the interest which the subject matter excites. And of interest and information there is enough and to spare and to hold the attention even though unfamiliar technical details are not lacking.
