A fatal case of generalized histoplasmosis in a 7 month old Panamanian infant is presented. In spite of negative histoplasmin skin test and x-ray of the chest, cultural studies were undertaken resulting in isolation of H. capsulatum from the patient's bone marrow and blood. Compatible diagnostic titers were obtained in the complement-fixation test.
