A peculiar type of degeneration has been observed in cultures of small race E. histolytica in the presence of penicillin G, yielding structures resembling B. hominis. Penicillin G was inhibitory to the propagation of cultures of two strains of small race E. histolytica in mixed bacterial flora in concentrations which had no effect on similar cultures of two large race strains.
