More people are traveling to the developing world than ever before. To meet the demand from a public of ever more sophisticated travelers, the practice of travel medicine has, in recent years, evolved and been refined into a distinct specialty area. Patients, especially those going abroad for periods of months to years, presenting for a specialized pre-travel medical consultation are confronted with a daunting number of complex medical issues. Often these highly motivated, usually well educated, individuals want more obsessively detailed information on how to travel healthy than can be provided either during an office visit or on the generic and only minimally individualized Patient Information sheets that most of us provide.

Each year since 1990, Dr. Rose has published an updated version of this comprehensive and practically oriented medical guide which is targeted primarily at the educated lay traveler. It has quickly and deservedly developed an outstanding reputation amongst the travelling public.
