This book is the newest update of the classic manual on public health aspects of infectious diseases. The more than 200 diseases covered are listed alphabetically from “Acquired Immunodeficiency Sydrome” to “Zygomycosis”. Thumbing through the pages of this handy-sized softcover book, one encounters the familiar (e.g. chicken pox, gonorrhea, influenza) to the exotic (e.g. anisakiasis, orf virus disease, trypanosomiasis). In this edition, new sections have been added for TWAR pneumonia, campylobacteriosis, ehrlichiosis and erythema infectiosum.

The first edition of CCDM was published in 1917 by the American Public Health Association, and revisions have been produced every five years. Each disease is identified by the numbers assigned by the World Health Organization International Classification of Disease, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9CM). The standardized format of each disease presentation makes the information easy to access and contributes to the concise management of the text.
