Accepting the adage that one picture is worth a thousand words, A Color Atlas of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology contains a remarkable amount of information for the medical practitioner who is relatively uninformed about diseases of tropical and developing countries. This second edition of a book enthusiastically received after it was first published in 1977 has been improved with additions, corrections and revisions suggested by friends and colleagues of the authors. New photographs, illustrations, figures and tables enhance the visual presentation of materials and expand information provided. New tables in the appendix offer convenient references on the classification of vectors, agents, and diseases common to the tropics.
To whom should this atlas be recommended? Medical practitioners in many third world countries would find that it provides a valuable aid to diagnosis of many of the more common tropical diseases.Considering the breadth of the material provided, the atlas also would serve to stimulate the practitioner's appreciation of factors involved in disease transmission.
