The ecology of Colorado tick fever (CTF) was investigated in the Rocky Mountain National Park in 1974. Study sites and sampling methods were selected for measuring the effect of various ecological parameters on CTF virus activity. The important rodent and tick species for CTF maintenance, and the habitats that support the hosts, vectors, and the virus were identified.
