Antigenic group: Ungrouped.
Original source: Isolated by D. K. Lvov et al.1 at Moscow, USSR, from a pool of 15 adult female Hyalomma asiaticum ticks collected by hand in August 1971 at Tamdynsk region, Bukharsk province, Uzbek SSR, Lat. 41°52'N, Long. 64°16'E. Habitat: Desert sheep-cote. Storage: Held alive at 4°C in refrigerator until tested.
Method of isolation in laboratory: Ticks ground in Hanks' balanced salt solution containing 10% rabbit serum. Suspension inoculated 0.01 ml ic into 2-day-old mice on 15 October 1971.
Validity of isolation: Virus reisolated. Isolate was different from those viruses existing in the laboratory.
