Summary

The effect of Toxoplasma antibodies and normal serum factors on the respiration of Toxoplasma gondii was studied by means of an ampulla diver technique. The respiration-inhibiting effect of antibody was found to require the presence of properdin and a high concentration of fresh human serum. The development of morphologic alterations of the parasites was not directly correlated to inhibited respiration. Although an excess of properdin interfered with the expression of a positive dye test, respiratory inhibition was not modified.
