The purpose of the first printing of this Manual in 1959 was to produce a teaching manual to fill the needs of the Malayan student of malariology. This book is addressed to the undergraduate medical students of the University of Malaya and the postgraduate students of taking the diploma course in Public Health. It is directed particularly to malaria problems in Malaya. The epidemiologic aspect of malaria is emphasized. The effect upon the community rather than the individual is dealt with.
The first printing of 1959 having been exhaused, the second printing is 1965 permitted the inclusion of new information, principally incorporated in an appendix. This corrected some omissions and errors in the first edition as well as updating certain informational areas.
The text is divided into 7 major parts with a bibliography and a glossary. There are 38 text figures and 19 plates, 11 in color, an excellent feature of this book.
