Summary

Gel-diffusion analysis of sheep hydatid fluid (SHF) antigen and antisera prepared from hydatid fluid and various sheep serum fractions showed ten components: three were identified as major parasite antigens, four as host antigens and three were unidentified.

Lines produced by SHF and diagnostic human sera were almost exclusively identified with the parasite components.

Diffusion coefficients of the parasite antigens were calculated as 1.2, 2.3 and 3.5 × 10-7 cm2/sec by the Allison and Humphrey right angle method. Measurements of the host components were compatible with the serum gamma globulins and albumins with which they were identified.
