Rhinoscleroma is not a common disease; however, more cases are diagnosed every year throughout the world, and it is a distressing affliction.
This is a monograph on rhinoscleroma in South America, and the material consists of 9 cases diagnosed in Venezuela. These cases are well described and illustrated. The results of treatment are given as good, although a number of different antibiotics are suggested in treatment.
Although invasion of the nasal sinuses and cranial cavity is mentioned, no mention is made of extranasal sites of rhinoscleroma infection such as the vertebrae and spinal canal.
This monograph is worthwhile if it only draws attention to a little known malady of poverty stricken people all over the world.
