Summary

Giardia lamblia was found in 41 (35%) of 118 persons from 15 families observed weekly for periods of 12 to 40 weeks. A significantly greater number of diarrheal episodes not associated with pathogenic enteric bacteria was observed in persons with Giardia infection than in persons without the infection.
