Members and guests of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene:
This is the second opportunity that I have had to introduce to you the Craig Lecturer. On the previous occasion, which occurred in 1957, I had the honor of presenting Dr. Louis L. Williams, Jr., who discussed “Malaria Eradication—Growth of the Concept and Its Application.” At that time I reviewed the biography of Colonel Charles Franklin Craig and the circumstances which led to this named lecture series, and appended a list of the first 22 Craig lecturers and the titles of their lectures. I trust that will be brought up to date at the end of these introductory remarks.
The current lecturer in this series is also an esteemed friend of long standing. Dr. Richard Moreland Taylor hails from Kentucky where he obtained his college education at its University in Lexington, graduating in 1905.He pursued his medical studies at the University of Michigan, from which he graduated five years later.
