Summary and Conclusions

  1. 1. Six patients infected with Balantidium coli, three of whom also harbored Endamoeba histolytica, were treated with aureomycin and all remained negative for these infections in frequent post-treatment examinations of two to twelve weeks' duration.
  2. 2. In all cases B. coli disappeared within four days of initiation of treatment and it is probable that a shorter course of treatment might prove equally effective against this infection.
