How many times have you been to a holiday buffet where there was simply too much good food of too many different types to eat them all? Watching the different approaches people take to filling their plates can be as much fun as the eating. In many ways, the author of a statistics book with such a broad topic as this is faced with a similar dilemma. There's really too much ground to cover in one reasonably sized book, so choices must be made. The decisions that one author makes might suit one audience well, but not another. The target audience for this book includes final-year undergraduate students or Masters-level statistics students looking for applications in epidemiology, and medical students—a group less in touch with their quantitative inner child. However, I believe that there are many others who might find that their tastes match up with this author's quite well.
