Article I.

Name, Origin, and Purpose.

Section 1.

This Society shall be called “The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.” The period of duration for which it is organized is perpetual, or until such time as a proposal for dissolution shall be passed by the Council of the Society, such dissolution to be in compliance with Article XIII of the Society Articles of Incorporation as amended 6 October 1981.

Section 2. This Society shall be incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware and shall be formed by the amalgamation of the American Society of Tropical Medicine, founded in 1903, and the National Malaria Society, founded in 1916. The Articles of Incorporation may be amended in the same manner as amendments to the Constitution except that no such action shall be taken that would adversely affect the qualifications of the Society under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
