This paperback publication answers the need for a handy reference in which the clinician can find answers related to immunization of adults. The published by the American Academy of Pediatrics covers immunization indications and needs for children, , published annually by the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) as a supplement to the , provides information for the traveler, and the , published by the American Public Health Association, lists immunizations available for specific diseases.

The immunization recommendations are those for disease prevention. When appropriate, techniques for both active and passive protection against disease are given; the use of antisera for treatment of tetanus, botulism and diphtheria is not included. The content is presented clearly and with sufficient explanation to justify the recommendations. The only error noted occurs on page 87, in the statement that the “organisms are acetone precipitated and heat killed.”
