Isolated by D. K. Lvov et al. at Moscow, USSR, from a pool of 15 adult female ticks collected by hand in August 1971 at Tamdynsk region, Bukharsk province, Uzbek SSR, Lat. 41°52'N, Long. 64°16'E. Desert sheep-cote. Held alive at 4°C in refrigerator until tested.

Ticks ground in Hanks' balanced salt solution containing 10% rabbit serum. Suspension inoculated 0.01 ml ic into 2-day-old mice on 15 October 1971.

Virus reisolated. Isolate was different from those viruses existing in the laboratory.
