Abstract

Isolated by Virus Research Centre at Poona, India, from pool of 100 adult female mosquitoes, collected by mouth suction tube from walls, corners, and hay in cattle shed on 17 July 1971 at Kaikalur town, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India, Let. 16°35'N, Long. 81°14'E. Cattle shed with thatched roof. Held alive for 72 h and then stored at 4°C on wet ice for 4 days.

Mosquitoes ground in buffered saline containing 0.75% bovine albumin and antibiotics. Inoculated 0.02 ml ic in 2-day-old mice on 24 July 1971.

Not reisolated, but first virus of this type in the laboratory.
