Isolated by R. M. Taylor and H. R. Dressler at NAMRU-3, Cairo, Egypt, from adult caught 28 August 1952 by hand by personnel of Department of Zoology, NAMRU-3, at Qalyub, Qalyubiya Province, Egypt, Lat. 30° N, Long. 32° E. Rat nest in wall of old tomb in village cemetery in highly cultivated and irrigated area in Nile Delta. Specimen placed in vial at ambient temperature until tested.

Ground suspension in 0.5% buffered bovine-albumin solution. Inoculated 0.02 ml ic and 0.03 ml ip in 2-day-old white mice on 28 August 1952.

Not reisolated, but virus different from any other virus in laboratory.

Filterable through Seitz and membrane (APD not given) filters.
