Isolated by J. P. Woodall and M. C. Williams at the East African Virus Research Institute, Entebbe, Uganda, from a pool of 191 female adult Giles collected on 12 March 1962 by knockdown with pyrethrum spray at the Magila Mission, Tanga Province, Tanzania, Lat. 5° 10′ S, Long. 38° 40′ E. Native huts in savannah. Specimens held in ice water until inoculation in mice.

Ground suspension in bovalbumin solution with penicillin and streptomycin. Inoculated 0.01 ml ic, ip, and sc, respectively, in newborn mice.

Virus reisolated.

Filterable through Gradocol membrane APD 680 nm. No data. Sensitive to 1:1 ether; control titer 10, aftertreatment titer 10.
