Abstract

Summary

Alkaline-phosphatase activity was identified in cercariae of , and it appears related to the excretory system and the penetration glands. Distribution of alkaline-phsophatase activity differed among the three cercariae.

Acid-phosphatase activity was demonstrated in , and . The general pattern of distribution is in the oral organ, in the region of the nerve mass, in the puckered center of the acetabulum, and at the junction of the body and the tail. Subcuticular staining was also present. There were small differences in distribution among the species and more marked differences in total enzyme content.
