Summary
The immunoelectroadsorption technique was used to study the immunodiagnosis of schistosomiasis mansoni in man. Nine of 10 serum samples tested from patients with known schistosomiasis were found to react specifically with either a cercarial or an adult worm antigen. No cross-reaction was observed with Trichinella spiralis antigen, nor with the serum of patients with echinococcosis or filariasis. The authors propose the use of this method for the rapid serodiagnosis of schistosomiasis mansoni, provided the necessary controls are done.
