Those familiar with “Diagnostic Medical Parasitology” by the same authors will quickly recognize the major changes in the second edition now entitled “Medical Parasitology.” Two new chapters dealing with the signs, symptoms and therapy of the parasitic diseases represent a sorely needed addition to an otherwise useful handbook for medical students and practitioners in the United States.

The chapter dealing with the signs and symptoms of the parasitic diseases of man is well organized and presented in a manner which should prove most useful to the student and practitioner alike. As indicated by the authors signs and symptoms are seldom pathognomonic of a parasitic disease but their presence should alert the physician as to the possible causes. The condensed manner and clarity of presentation makes this readily feasible.

The chapter on therapy will indicate to the student the current approach to the treatment of these diseases even though many may be obsolete by the time he enters the practice of medicine.
