Abstract

This booklet of 120 pages (including index, bibliography, and glossary) was prepared as a guide-supplement to the authors' textbook: (see vol. 11, p. 321). The page-size, format, and printing of the text and the manual are essentially identical and they might well have been bound together. Much of what is in the manual (classification with illustrations, collection and examination of hosts, methods of preservation and preparation of specimens for study, culture methods, diagnostic techniques) is commonly included in texts. There is, however, in addition, a short section on laboratory experiments and three suggested sequences of laboratory exercises. A large number of high-quality line drawings and photographs, some original but mostly well-selected from numerous sources, add distinction to both the text and the manual which together provide an unusually complete, orderly, nicely illustrated guide to the study of general parasitology.
