Abstract

Summary

Two cases of histoplasmosis in Thailand are presented in this report. In one case there was an involvement of the mucosa of the tongue and the pharynx whereas in the other case, lesions of the mucous membrane of the palates and the skin of the face were seen. The diagnosis was established in both instances by histopathologic study of the biopsies of the lesions, confirmed by mycologic studies. The first case responded well to amphotericin B treatment but the second case showed slower and incomplete response. From the rather distant geographical locations of the two cases it is suggested that cases may be widely distributed in Thailand.
