Abstract

has been isolated from a pool of tissues from two Ord kangaroo rats, , trapped in Tooele County, Utah, the second such isolation reported in the litera ture. Virulence studies on this strain and on a strain isolated from deer mice, , trapped in the same general region two years earlier, showed the latter strain to be slightly more virulent than the kangaroo rat strain. Both strains were nearly avirulent for two species of kangaroo rats, and .
