Abstract

Summary

Experiments on the effect of flooding culture dishes containing gave results that were variable, but the combined results showed a reduction in the number of eggs laid. Flooding experiments conducted on showed an increase in egg laying in the ratio of 2.2:1. laid approximately 92% of the eggs above the water line, and laid about 84% of their eggs in that position. Fewer young snails were found than eggs, probably because some of these died and the shells were not recovered, and probably because some eggs failed to hatch.
