Abstract

Summary

The neutralization of and venomas by anti-bothropic and anti-crotalic sera was examined quantitatively. It was found that these antivenins exert a slight degree of para-specific action on venoms of the genus only. This neutralization is, however, much inferior to that by specific antivenins, so that the once recommended use of South American sera in European snake poisoning is not justified. Some problems of antivenin titration are discussed.
