Summary

  • 1.  Following a single intramuscular injection of pentavalent antimonials, there was a progressive decrease in the number of viable in the spleen of infected hamsters, the decrease continuing as long as 16 to 32 days after injection.
  • 2.  Possible explanations for this prolonged action, and its implications for the treatment of leishmaniasis in man, have been discussed.
