Abstract

Summary

A total of 236 patients with colonic symptoms have been examined to establish the etiologic diagnosis. The more thorough the examination, the smaller became the unsatisfactory group of undiagnosed cases.

In 68 patients was found as the causative organism; from 21 patients a organism was recovered. In addition to these pathogens, undulant fever, lymphopathis venereum, and carcinoma were diagnosed as cause of the colonic symptoms.

Of 84 patients with amebiasis, 81 were cured with Diodoquin.
