Mark F. Boyd has requested the publication of the following note on his article “Observations on Naturally and Artificially Induced Quartan Malaria,” which appeared in the November 1940 issue of T J:

Reference is made to the sentence on page 763: “On the other hand the quartan infections discussed, whether naturally or artificially induced, have never been initiated by quotidian paroxysms. When the latter are observed they have always been preceded by a variable series of single or double quartan paroxysms.” And to the sentence on page 765: “It is to be noted that while with the artificially inoculated infections, one half of the attacks were initiated by the C cycle, the quotidian ABC never figured in the onset.”

I regret that the effect of these statements is a denial of the observation of initial quotidian paroxysms following artificial inoculation.
