This important monograph on human blood flukes is based primarily on the author's fourteen years of experience as a surgeon in the Egyptian delta, where both and are common parasites of the population. The volume, however, is much more than a recital of clinical experiences. It is a thorough, logical presentation of the historical, biological epidemiological and practical aspects of the subject and demonstrates a full appreciation on the part of the author of all phases of the problem, not only of the two schistosomes with which the author has had enviable experience, but also of the Oriental blood fluke, , which he has studied from the literature. In addition, brief consideration is given to the related schistosomes of domestic animals.

For the first time there is compiled in one volume essentially all of the knowledge concerning schistosomiasis and its etiological agents.
