Animal Parasitology. With Special Reference to Man and Domesticated Animals

This textbook upon animal parasitology has been prepared for students in colleges, universities, medical schools, schools of hygiene and public health, etc., and is divided into three parts, treating of protozoology, helminthology and entomology, the principle parasites of man and domesticated animals being considered under each heading. There is an introduction by Hegner in which parasitism in animals is discussed and this is immediately followed by Section I upon Protozoology, by the same author. This Section contains 160 pages and, owing to the lack of space, the descriptions of the various protozoa of man are very condensed but up-to-date, as a whole, and valuable to the average student. However, so far as students in medical schools, schools of public health and hygiene, and schools of tropical medicine are concerned, the information given is too condensed and much data of value to these classes of students does not appear in this consideration of the subject, especially data regarding epidemiology, transmission, pathology and prophylaxis.
