A Short History of Medicine

By CHARLES SINGER, M.A., M.D., D. Litt, Oxford. Oxford University Press. New York. American Branch. 1928. Pages I–XXIV, 1–368

C. F. C.

In his Preface the author states that throughout this work two aims have been kept in view: to stress the principles of Medicine rather than the details of practice, and to treat these principles in as small a space as possible. A perusal of the work proves that he has been successful and it stands as one of the most readable and interesting histories of Medicine that has appeared in recent years. The book can be cordially recommended to the student of medicine and the busy practitioner as one that well sums up the important facts connected with the history and development of scientific medicine in a brief space and in a most interesting and instructive manner.

The book is well bound and printed and the illustrations are excellent.
