An Introduction to Medical Protozoology

This work by Colonel Knowles has long been looked forward to by all interested in medical protozoology. The many valuable contributions by the author to this subject and his accuracy of observation make any work upon medical protozoology by him of value and interest and the present book is no exception to this rule. In his Preface, Colonel Knowles states that the book was prepared primarily as a text-book for the students at the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine and that he regrets that so little of this volume is original and so much of it "loot." While it is true that much of the book, as the author states, has been taken from Wenyon's "Protozoology," both as regards text and illustrations, it is also true that our author does not hesitate to express his personal opinions and beliefs regarding the various parasites considered, and they are illuminating, conservative, and, above all, "common-sensible," if one may be pardoned the use of this term.
