Trichomonas in Urine

1. Urine from 516 patients was obtained.

2. Six hundred thirty-three specimens were examined microscopically and culturally; 300 from men, 333 from women.

3. Only one specimen contained trichomonas and this was from a fecal contamination.

4. The organism was Trichomonas hominis.

5. Forty-eight degrees Centigrade is the thermal death point for this race of T. hominis.

From the above survey one can conclude that trichomonas is not a frequent inhabitant of the urinary tract, at least not in this part of the country.
