The sixth edition of the Précis de Parasitologie, appearing in two volumes, is an encyclopedic documentation of parasitologic information reflecting the broad experience of this well-known French parasitologist. The text, introduced by 87 pages of a general discussion of host-parasite interrelations, is divided into two main sections: (1) the animal parasites in which are included the spirochetes, protozoa, rickettsiae, and metazoa, and (2) the plant parasites, a section unique in this work, emphasizing the fungi. The index and table of contents appear at the end of the second volume.
To revise a treatise of such wide scope requires many months of arduous labor with the result that there may be a considerable lag between the latest references cited and the actual time of publication. In an attempt to minimize this lag the author has included up-to-date information in a special section appended to the second volume.
One cannot describe a uniform method of presentation for the emphasis varies considerably from topic to topic.
