A Note on Schistosomiasis in Eastern Japan

Louis Olivier1

Evidence is presented to show that a small endemic focus of schistosomiasis japonica persists in the vicinity of Koya-mura, Kitasoma County, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Infected school children and infected intermediate hosts were found. This brings the known persistent foci of the disease in the Kanto Plain of Japan to three.
