1. Complement fixation tests were carried out in a group of146 pigeons.
2. Positive reactions were obtained in all pigeonswith a microscopicallydiagnosed H. columbae infection and inthe majority of latentchronic infections. The complement fixationtests particularlywith P. gallinaceum antigen was found tobe more reliable thandirect blood examination for the diagnosisof H. columbae.
3. Antigens prepared from P. gallinaceum andH. columbae gavespecific and group reactions.
4. The existenceof serological cross reactions between thegenus Plasmodiumand the genus Haemoproteus was demonstrated.
5. These resultsare significant in the light of recent findingsof primary tissueforms in Plasmodium.
