The Recent Distribution of Endemic Yellow Fever in Central America and Neighboring Countries1

Henry W. Kumm AND Porter J. Crawford

Intraperitoneal mouse protection tests were run on 4,047 blood samples collected in 85 localities in Central America, Mexico, and Panama. The survey showed that during recent years endemic yellow fever has been restricted to Eastern Panama, where it approaches to within fifty miles of the Canal Zone.

Received April 20, 1943.
1 The studies and observations on which this paper is based were conducted with the support and under the auspices of the International Health Division of The Rockefeller Foundation working in collaboration with the Health Departments of Panama, Mexico, British Honduras, and the Central American Republics.
