Virus Diseases of Man

Within the past five years several works upon the virus diseases of man have appeared, all of which have been good, but the reviewer believes that this consideration of the subject by van Rooyen and Rhodes is possibly the most exhaustive and valuable that has yet been published. The authors state in their Preface that their object in preparing the work has been to provide a useful reference work for laboratory workers and at the same time to include data of service to clinicians and public health officers. They have not attempted to give a strict classification of the viruses but have arranged the various diseases caused by them according to the system chiefly involved, as skin diseases, infective fevers, respiratory diseases, etc. Each chapter is followed by a very complete bibliography and contains a clear description of technical methods, as cultivation, examination, animal inoculations, etc.
